Lets be creative, if you could make any new powerup, brick, or permanant upgrade, what would it be? These could be as powerful or useless as you want, so be creative

For example, mine is:

powerup: Yellow P 'Peak'
When you get this upgrade, all bricks that have powerups reveal the letter and color of this powerup. Ends when the level is finished (win or lose)

brick: invisable
You do not see this brick until you hit it. It would break in 1 hit like a normal brick. They do not all have to be destroyed to finish the level.

Permanant upgrade: transdimensional angel summoner
Whenever a ball goes off the bottom of the screen, there is a 4% chance it will bounce back with the halo powerup.

Well, can't think of a letter, but I kinda misses a powerup commenly found in breakout games: The powerup that sets of the explosives bricks.

And generally, the letters are difficult to decipher at first; I would think that D was double and gave tow balls, and not diminutive - but as you have played a couple of times, you remember what they stand for.

Crop collector extension for drones: collects orbital nuts as you play, preventing them from destroying your envelope (especially on Khorlan :dontcare: )

I've always wanted a powerup in a brickbreaker that makes your paddle fly upwards at the bricks to take out a whole bunch.

Maybe [ C ] for Crash. XD

I have two ideas:

The [ U ] powerup (can't think of a name) could turn all but one brick in the level into a green mineral. This is a good thing because you get lots of minerals, but dangerous because you can end the level by hitting that one remaining brick.

The other is a permanent envelope upgrade: When your envelope has no powerups on it, you are able to click and hold to "capture" a falling capsule for later use. You only have one storage slot (or maybe you can buy more at a later date) for these capsules, but it would allow you to store a Laser, Multiball or an extra Volt if you wanted.

Both would be good additions that wouldn't really break the game too much :)

The [U] powerup you are proposing would quite break the game, unless the brick chosen one of those closest to the bottom.

As for others...
Permanent Extension: Drone Intelligence Boost Chip
Drones can also take out Plague and Death Ball/Laser blocks.

Permanent Extension: Solar Panel
Reduces wait time until Auto-Javelin starts charging by 1/6th (up to 3 can be bought, reducing Auto-Javelin wait time by 1/6th of the original time each).

Power-up: [UM] (Ultra Minerals)
Each mineral block in the stage takes 3 hits to be destroyed but gives twice as many minerals.

Power-up: [TP] (Teleportation)
The ball gets randomly teleported somewhere in the stage.

Power-up: [RB] Random Ball
The ball becomes a Volt ball, Glacial ball, Flame ball, Halo ball or a normal ball, chosen at random.

I don't feel it would break the game if the powerup I proposed was as rare as the Provisions one. I mean, that one is sparsely scattered across the map as it is. There are levels already that can give you over 300:mineral: ... I don't think it would seriously affect the game too much, but better reward players who are able to control the ball and not hit the block that ends the level.

I also have thought about a drone AI boost. Like they go after the more expensive minerals first. They take out the more dangerous sentinels as a priority. They might even dodge the sentinel decoys. Offer another drone powerup that would let them attack a wider variety of bad blocks (like the skull and crossbones one.)

That [ U ] is similar to the [ U ], Unification, on KadoKado AlphaBounce - it turns all blocks into green minerals (because it doesn't end the level in that version).

If it was that rare, yeah, I guess so. I still think that the remaining normal block should be on the blocks lower on the screen though.

I forgot that that was the same powerup in the other version of Alpha Bounce... I feel slightly less original now :)

The play area is roughly 16x14 ... sometimes it goes farther down, but really that's not what I'm getting at. Even if the level was full of blocks and the powerup in question was the first one you hit. You would have access to about 225 :mineral:. Which is a lot, but not game breaking as the developers have complete control over what powerups go into what levels.

Anyway, just my idea. I'm sure whatever they actually come up with will be better :)

Brick: Barrier (Looks like a Blue Brick with two green lines going through it)

Hitting this block activates a barrier at the bottem of the screen, preventing your drilling balls from going off the bottom of the screen and taking out one of your lives. The down side is that it only lasts for 10 seconds and you can't move your envelope.
